Walking
Pembrokeshire is home to the only coastal National Park and walking various parts of the 186 mile coastal path is the perfect way to explore the hidden coves and beaches.
Turn right out of Meadow Farm and tackle a stretch of the coastline from South beach, strolling along the sand and up onto the gorse-clad headland of Giltar point. The views across Carmarthen Bay to Caldey and St. Margarets islands are exceptional. Follow the ragged wildflower-strewn cliffs further around the coast, past Lydstep Point and Skrinkle Haven to Manobier.
Bear left at Meadow Farm entrance and more exhilarating clifftop views await on the coastal walk from North beach around Monkstone point to the coastal town of Saundersfoot.
Pods of dolphins and porpoises are often seen in these waters – you may be lucky!
Take A Boat Trip To Caldey Island
Caldey Island is one of Britain’s few holy islands and has a history going back to the 5th century. Today, Cistercian monks still live and work at the monastery on the island, where they continue their Celtic traditions. The island is also home to some wonderful wildlife such as a colony of seals and visiting puffins, razorbills and cormorants, as well as red squirrels and soay sheep. Arrive at the island’s jetty at Priory beach and head on to the village to visit the mediaeval priory, post-office/museum, gift shop and tea-garden. Wander up past St.Illtyd’s church and chocolate factory towards the Lighthouse where you can continue the circular coastal cliff-top walk of the island. A truly beautiful, sacred and spiritual island steeped in history. Well worth a visit.
